Ate something bad... ;(

Last Saturday, I had a great dinner with some family friends of my dad's. we ate lots of Asian food such as chicken, duck, seafood (such as oysters), sweet and sour pork (to be specific) and many Asian vegetables. I have no idea what we were supposed to be celebrating but Asian dinners these days usually mean wine lovers can talk about the wine they have brought, how they are different to other wines and stuff like that since it has become and adult fad. Well, I was just reading and watching the TV the whole time I didn't expect what was going to happen on the very Monday that was coming up...

That long weekend Monday, my mum had to work and my dad was staying at home, helping my younger brother with his coaching homework. Typical Asian dad. When mum had come home, it was already time to eat lunch so we decided to eat at the Japanese restaurant. If I can remember properly I think we ordered stir-fried udon noodles with chicken, Unagi rice box (eel rice box), and teriyaki chicken udon. Two bowls of miso soup came with that as well. Surprisingly the teriyaki chicken which I though was supposed to be place on top of the udon was separately placed on a dish with some Doritos! Yep, you saw that right, Doritos. Apparently there's another Japanese restaurant this one is competing with so they have to stand out from the other one because the other restaurant has a $1 kids meal with every adult udon so yeah... that's unfortunate.

Enough about that. That day I had already felt a kind of stomach pain. I thought it was just the ones I always have, because I have always had a weak digestive system. I always have stomach aches whenever I eat something wrong so, I thought it was just one of those. At night my mum was feeling tired from work so she didn't cook our dinner, so we ordered pizza. That week had some kind of phone ordering saving deal so my dad ordered the pizza from his phone. My dad and I went to pick it up, which was only a few minutes drive from home. We got back home, ate the pizza and continued what we did at home on a normal Sunday night like watch TV or play on the computer like I do.

By this time, I was feeling very nauseous and I felt like I was going to throw up. I sat in the toilet for ages but nothing seemed to be happening. So I gave up, but the pain did not cease. I was 11pm and I was getting ready to sleep when I couldn't hold back any longer I threw up the pizza I had before, in the toilet bowl. It was painful and smelly. I couldn't stand the smell of the stuff that I threw up. I did as much as I could before I could sleep comfortably. In the morning about 5am, my mum which was going to work came and checked up on me. The first think I said was, "I need water." So she quickly poured me a glass of water and brought it to my room where I drank it like I never had water in a month. It quenched my thirst and also got rid of the acidy stuff in my throat and mouth. My mum told me to not go to school if I was not feeling very well. No way would I give up my perfect attendance for my bad stomach.

The very morning I felt sluggish and hot. I took the bus to the train station and felt the pain in my digestive system still there. I met my friend and we got on the train together, I was feeling very sick so I didn't talk much and feel as good as I normally would on a normal school morning. When my friend got on the the train a few stops later, she noticed my cheeks were red, and felt that I was having a fever or something of the sort. I thought it was the heater coming from the train and my scarf that was making me hot. When we got off the train I felt a bit better from the fresh air, not that it was a particularly good day with good weather either.

For the rest of the day I felt as though a rock was sitting on my head, I kept having headaches and was feeling dizzy. When it was recess or lunch i couldn't eat my bread that I always ate. Not to mention the pain in my stomach was still there. In classes, I had super headaches so I couldn't concentrate much. It' was a good thing I was ahead of my classmates in the reading task so I could pretend to read while having a rest. The day passed by in a blur. Without even realising the school had already ended.

This continued for another three days. But each day I could feel that the headaches and the dizziness was decreasing. The stomach cramps came less often and I wasn't as drowsy as the first day. On Sunday, I decided I had to go to the doctors. I couldn't stand the pain any longer. The doctor had asked me some questions about my symptoms and what areas of my body had hurt. The doctor felt my stomach and pushed on the areas where it had hurt. He found out I had an infection in the large intestines. I was diagnosed with gastroenteritis. Probably from food poisoning. Yep, it was the oysters. Ever since i was small I could never handle fresh seafood, especially oysters. My dad is as well, actually most of the people in my family are prone to uncooked or lazily-cooked seafood. The doctor advised me to drink more fluids and stop eating the pills which my pharmacist had recommended before. Buscopan, it was. The doctor said that the pills prolonged the life of the bacteria in my digestive system.

When I got home I ran to the computer straight away checking out what Gastroenteritis really was. I twas the inflammation of the colon (large intestine) or the upper bowel. It said that it lasted for about1-6 day and it was self-limiting. I'm glad to finally know what it is and I want to get better so I can eat yummy food that my parents make for me!!

Sorry for making you listen to this long story, I will try my best to get better!!
